I don’t post much but I thought I would write a little review for an iPhone game I bought recently.
If you’re a Physics Game Fan, a genre of game that’s proving hugely popular to the Casual gaming market on App Store, then there’s another game to add to the collection, Sogoplay’s Mani Golf. Featuring 36 weirdly original holes spread over two wackily themed courses, touch controls, beautiful graphics, retina support, as well as a comical Main Character, and an enjoyably challenging difficulty curve that will keep you coming back for more. Mani Golf ranks highly amongst the Physics favourites on App Store.
The unique thing about Mani Golf was always that it wasn’t a faithful Golf Game, more a fantastically addictive 2d platform game with a Golf theme. To take your shot, you now have touch screen pull back, to choose your power and direction, and it comes very naturally. You can also make use of your accelerometer, by tilting the phone to adjust the shot in the air or roll it along the ground, which is a fantastic feature, as there’s many a gamer who tilts their controller/phone whilst playing, the beauty here is, it works!
Once you’ve picked your way through the courses, Mani Golf keeps you coming back for more, with the hole achievements, it becomes hard to resist replaying to achieve an Albatross on every hole, and with the implementation of Game Center Leaderboards and Achievements, there’s further incentive to shave yet more shots and time off your score.
The Main Character Gaylord Mulligan, a hapless Terry Thomas type Cad, endlessly witters his way through the game, several of his catchphrases genuinely achieved a couple of laugh out loud moments. However if you grow sick of Gaylord, and well you might, you have the option of turning him off, but keeping the music on. The Developer has also announced that in the Next update, there will be a ‘Gag Gaylord’ option, thank god.
All in all, This is a Fantastic Game!
Enjoyable, Challenging, Funny, its got the lot, if you like Angry Birds, you’ll love this.
